Top 8 Future Trucks & Buses Concepts:
NO.1- MERCEDES FUTURE TRUCK 2025
There is a revolution taking place, but at a relaxed pace. Calmly and safely, the Mercedes-Benz Future Truck 2025 rolls down the highway at 85 km/h. The tractor and trailer brake and accelerate with precision, riding in the middle of the right-hand lane in flowing traffic. This scene, however, is anything but routine. Though the driver is seated behind the wheel, he is staring at a tablet computer, planning his next trip and then checking the condition of the freight stored on smart pallets in the semitrailer.
NO.2- Mercedes-Benz Future Bus
The technology of the CityPilot in the Mercedes-Benz Future Bus is based on that of the autonomously driving Mercedes-Benz Actros truck with Highway Pilot presented two years ago. It has however undergone substantial further development specifically for use in a city bus, with numerous added functions. The CityPilot is able to recognise traffic lights, communicate with them and safely negotiate junctions controlled by them. It can also recognise obstacles, especially pedestrians on the road, and brake autonomously. It approaches bus stops automatically, where it opens and closes its doors. And not least, it is able to drive through tunnels.
NO.3- WALMART ADVANCED TRUCK
The Walmart Advanced Vehicle Experience concept truck – the result of a partnership between many vendors – is the latest in our fleet efficiency program. This prototype combines aerodynamics, mictroturbine-hybrid powertrain, electrification, advanced control systems, and cutting edge materials like carbon fiber all in one vehicle.
NO.4 - WILLIE TRANSPARENT LCD BUS
„Willie" bus is a conceptual project designed by Tad Orlowski, which utilizes new trends in technology to transform city landscapes and provide an added element to getting around town.
NO.5 - FREIGHTLINER INSPIRATION TRUCK
The Freightliner Inspiration Truck is the first licensed autonomous commercial truck to operate on an open public highway in the United States, showcasing what is possible through the energy of infinite inspiration.
NO.6 - TRANSIT ELEVATED BUS (TEB)
It may look like something from the future, but China's long-awaited "straddling bus" ran its inaugural test in Hebei province this week.
The 2m-high Transit Elevated Bus (TEB) straddles the cars below, allowing them to pass through.
Powered by electricity, the bus is able to carry up to 300 passengers in its 72ft (21m) long and 25ft wide body.
NO. 7 - IVECO Z TRUCK
It features a technology that allows for a squared shape, which makes it possible to optimize the use of space and accommodate two tanks with a single fill up.
The 317-gallon tank capacity results in a driving range of 1,380 miles.
NO.8 - NAYA ARMA MINIBUS
This autonomous French shuttle bus is already on sale, and deployed on a number of geofenced sites including a 220-hectare EDF power plant in Civaux. Fully electric and capable of operating like a set-route bus or an on-demand taxi, the Navya Arma carries 15 people at a top speed up to 45 km/h. It's also undergoing road testing. Efficient, useful, slow and unexciting, it's much like what we can expect when self-driving cars hit the roads en masse.
