Mercedes-Benz Lebanon launched the all-new EQA, as well as the fully electric EQC, the MotorShow team was there and covered this reveal.

The new EQA takes all the positive features of its sister model GLA and combines them with a highly efficient electric drive. With an output of 140 kW, the EQA 250 (power consumption combined: 15.7 kWh/100 km; CO2 emissions combined: 0 g/km) demonstrates how the brand with the star envisions tailor-made e-mobility for the diverse needs of young, urban target groups. After the market launch, further power levels up to over 200 kW as well as a variant with all‑wheel drive will successively follow.

The EQC (combined power consumption: 20.8 - 19.7 kWh/100 km; combined CO2 emissions: 0 g/km) is the first Mercedes-Benz under the product and technology brand EQ. At the press driving presentation in Oslo, the European "capital of e-mobility", the EQC is dynamically demonstrating its all-round qualities for the first time. It systematically embodies the principle of "human-centred innovation", and makes e-mobility simple, reliable and convenient for the customer. The EQC combines the know-how from more than 130 years of automobile engineering with the mobility requirements of the future, and stands for Electric Intelligence.

Rather than design and build a bespoke platform for the all-electric EQA, Mercedes has opted to adapt existing architecture from its GLA small SUV. Space has been created under the vehicle floor to house the electric motor and a battery pack, while the platform has been strengthened to support this extra load. With a kerb weight of well over 2,000kg, the EQA is a heavy car; a full 500kg more than the closely related GLA model.

Inside, the cabin of the EQC is equally familiar, with the latest dual-screen infotainment and digital dial displays from Mercedes, along with a centre console and switchgear taken straight from the GLC. The AMG Line interior lends EQC a more visible and tangible sense of sportiness. In addition to the electro-aesthetics of the vehicle interior, the multifunction sports steering wheel in nappa leather, with flattened bottom section and perforated grip area, for example, enhances driving pleasure. The sports seats boast good lateral support with AMG-specific seat upholstery layout.

The EQA is the compact athlete among the Mercedes-EQ vehicles, clearly identifiable with its renowned black panel radiator grille with central star and the front and rear light strips. The car’s sporting character is accentuated by the power domes in the front bonnet.

A very special vehicle at first glance – with a design which represents the future. The specific MULTIBEAM LEDs are unmistakable and combined to spectacular effect with an LED luminescent band.

All EQA versions have the same 66.5kWh battery capacity, but there are three individual power outputs to choose from. The front-wheel-drive 250 variant produces 189 HP and is capable of 0-100 km/h in 8.9s, with a top speed limited to 159.3mph. Moving further up the range, the 228 HP EQA 300 4MATIC manages the same sprint in 7.7 seconds, while the top-of-the-range 291 HP 350 4MATIC is quite a bit quicker, taking just 6.0s from 0-100km/h.

The total power output is 408 HP which, along with a serious 760Nm of torque, enables the EQC to travel from 0-100km/h in 5.1 seconds. Maximum speed is 180.2km/h, which is about the current average for electric cars and helps to preserve battery charge and range.
