The Ram 1500 Rebel, is an off-road-enhanced full-size pickup. Announced in 2015, its production officially started in the 2016 model year.
The idea of creating a Ram truck for off-road lovers may have come from dealers and customers who often customize their trucks with lift kits, custom hoods, and larger name badges. For that purpose, and to avoid out-sourced customization which would normally void the warranty, the company has standardized air suspension, 33-inch tires, skid plates, and tow hooks in the Rebel.
Exterior
Rebel is more than a mere name given to this truck, and not just because of its good looking younger facade.
Its exterior is sharply designed with well-thought-out bumpers and lower body coloring. The functional changes include front and rear shocks; an enhanced steering and stability-control calibration; a softer rear stabilizer bar; 33-inch tires, increasing the off-road approach.
Engine
Engine-wise, Dodge didn’t change much about the 2016 Dodge Ram Rebel.
A 3.6 liter V6 which is good for 305 horsepower and 270 lb-ft of torque, and the higher-end option, a 5.7 liter V8 with 398 horsepower and 410 lb-ft of torque will be available.
Both of these will come with rear wheel drive as standard and a 6 speed automatic gearbox. Four wheel drive is going to be optional and so are going to be the lockable differentials.
