McLaren founder Bruce McLaren suffered his untimely death when he crashed the Can-Am race car he was testing at the team. The car lost some of its body panels that were crucial for generating downforce, sending it out of control. As part of the 50th anniversary celebrations McLaren showcased a selection of legendary models from the company's heritage collection at the Goodwood Festival of Speed.
