1000 Miglia 2021: the sealing ceremony
* The 39th edition of the historical re-enactment of the "Freccia Rossa" ("Red Arrow"): today, the race paddock in Brescia hosted the sealing of the classic cars, not a simple formal ceremony but rather a ritual to bring on the high emotions of the competition.
* The cars then paraded in Piazza della Vittoria, to the admiration of the public, before leaving for Viareggio (Tuscany).
* In the spotlight is the Alfa Romeo brand, the winner in the competitive 1000 Miglia as many as 11 times: a record number of wins that can never be beaten.
* All eyes are on the prestigious vintage Alfa Romeo collection, with the 6C 1500 Super Sport (1928), the 1900 Sport Spider (1954), the 2000 Sportiva (1954) and the 1900 Sport Spider (1956) all on the starting grid, driven by exceptional crews. The standout drivers include the Chairman of Stellantis John Elkann with his wife Lavinia Borromeo.
* Solid and recognizable roots and a DNA that combines performance and elegance: following the "most beautiful race in the world", not to be missed are the current models by Alfa Romeo, now refreshing its sporting legend with the Giulia GTA and Giulia GTAm.

For over 90 years, the 1000 Miglia has been the epitome of passion on 4 wheels. It began in 1927 as a speed race starting and finishing in Brescia after visiting Rome and traveling right along the Italian peninsula: a total of 1,600 km, equivalent to 1,000 Imperial miles. At the second edition in 1928, Alfa Romeo took first place in both the individual and team rankings, with finishes for all 8 of its cars that started the race. At the various editions of the competitive 1000 Miglia up to 1957, Alfa Romeo cars won as many as 11 times, a record number of wins that can never be beaten. And now, for the re-enactment edition of the "most beautiful race in the world", the official team is lining up in the historic center of Brescia several prestigious models from the vintage Alfa Romeo collection: the 6C 1500 Super Sport (1928), the 1900 Sport Spider (1954), the 2000 Sportiva (1954) and the 1900 Sport Spider (1956), driven by exceptional crews. The multiple titleholders Giovanni Moceri and Daniele Bonetti will be competing, aiming to replicate their successes on board the 6C 1500 SS; the 2000 Sportiva hosts Alberto Vassallo and Giovanni Bianco; the Guest Car 1900 Sport Spider will be driven by Roberto Giolito, Head of Heritage, and Camila Raznovich; while Stellantis Chairman John Elkann and his wife Lavinia Borromeo will be aboard the 1900 Super Sprint.

The sealing ceremony and the race numbers
Before the cars set off, any consideration of the 1000 Miglia cannot overlook yesterday's checks and the sealing ceremony, held this morning at the race paddock in Brescia and followed by a parade in Piazza della Vittoria - one of the most symbolic locations in the city known as the "Lioness of Italy" - to the admiration of the public. The checks are structured into two phases, one sport-related for the crews - which includes scrutiny of permits, certificates and driving licenses - and an analytical check looking at the technical and functional aspects of the cars. The next sealing ceremony sees the affixing of a lead seal to certify that the checks have been completed, that the cars therefore match their documentation, and most of all, to give the green light for them to take part in the race.

A myth renewed by an acronym with a legendary flair: GTA
Just a few days from now, Alfa Romeo will be celebrating its 111th anniversary: the brand was founded on June 24th, 1910, and has throughout its history renewed its myth, conveying in each model its glorious past and inimitable DNA. Every Alfa Romeo arouses admiration for precisely this reason: not only the vintage cars but also the current models, which will be accompanying the 1000 Miglia convoy as the organization's official fleet. The Stelvio is the first SUV in the brand's history of over a century and has rewritten the rules of the class, setting new benchmarks in terms of performance. Meanwhile, the Giulia is the sports sedan where functional and dynamic beauty are combined to achieve the best possible performance. The epitome of performance is the Giulia GTAm, technically and conceptually inspired by the Giulia GTA of 1965: the "Gran Turismo Alleggerita" developed by Autodelta based on the Giulia Sprint GT that racked up sporting successes worldwide. It is based on the Giulia Quadrifoglio and is fitted with a supercharged version of the 540-hp Alfa Romeo 2.9 V6 Bi-Turbo engine, against which it stands out even further for its widespread adoption of ultralight materials and its best-in-class weight-to-power ratio. It also benefits from specific technical solutions for its aerodynamics, alignment and handling.
