World's Biggest Plane: Antonov An-225 Mriya
Antonov An-225 Mriya, better known as the Mriya, was originally built to carry Soviet space shuttles, and though it entered the service during the cold war around three decades ago, it is still considered the biggest plane in the world! This huge airplane that measures 84-meter long with an 88-meter wingspan, is the longest plane in the world, noting that in comparison A380 is 73 meter long with an 80 wingspan. It is also the heaviest aircraft ever built, as it weighs 175 tonnes with an empty cargo and without counting the fuel weight. Antonov An-225 Mriya is powered by six turbofan engines, with a maximum take-off weight of 640 tonnes.
